TRAK in the 401(k) Market

(Part 1 of 3)

Although The Retirement Analysis Kit (TRAK) is fairly new in the 401(k) marketplace, 401(k) advisors are showing a lot of excitement over what it provides—more sales and more service to employers and plan participants.

But what makes TRAK different than other tools? And how is it being used in the 401(k) market?

Isn't All Software the Same?

At a recent presentation at an advisors coaching program, one advisor summed it up very well when she said "When the presentation first started, I really didn't want to hear another software program... but TRAK is different than anything I have seen. This is an excellent sales-orientated illustration tool."

So what differentiates TRAK from other software? Several items come to mind:

1) It is sales orientated, not product orientated.

TRAK is product independent. It shows the participant their situation in terms they can easily understand. Using numbers and charts, it quickly communicates various financial circumstances and provides custom illustrations for each participant.

2) It is made to use in front of the customer.
TRAK is a suite of illustration tools designed to be used in front of the participant (with one exception, the Batch Paycheck calculator). Because of this TRAK is easy to use and clearly illustrates in methods that are easy for participants to understand.

3) It differentiates advisors to employers.

Walking into a perspective employer and communicating to them how your prospective is different can be a difficult sale. Do employers ever read the prospectus? Do they understand the financial jargon that would help them understand the distinctive differences? Do they have the time they would need to gain understanding?

Rather, TRAK allows you to change the way you differentiate yourself from other advisors: show them how you will educate their employees, how you can help employees find resources for committing to their 401(k) plan and what involvement in the 401(k) plan may mean to the employee both today and at retirement. Instantly.

TRAK is an excellent software tool for differentiating yourself as an advisor in the 401(k) marketplace with employers and participants. Two examples follow on how TRAK is used in the 401(k) marketplace.

Example 1 Custom illustrations for each employee using the Batch Paycheck Calculator.
Example 2 Finding additional 401(k) contributions with the Paycheck Calculator.
